Fishing Report
At The Box 91 cfs, @ WW GAP 327 cfs, @ CR17 453 cfs. The Fork 73 cfs. Again I apologize for not being better about getting these reports online in a timely fashion. As most of you know the river is VERY low. In fact it is about 25% of normal. Yes, we did have a great snowpack, but like I have been saying all Spring it just melted off too fast. The river is too low to legally float above Wagon Wheel Gap in the Creede area. You will get stuck and the landowners are aware of this. Remember if you cant float through with out getting stuck, you will be trespassing and most likely ticketed. The flows at CR 17 are only 453. This is approaching the levels at which it is not advisable to float the lower section below South Fork. Due to the flows all the boats have been forced down river, so everyone is on the same stretch. Boat ramps are crowded, so please be polite and use some common sense. Don’t park in the boat ramp then start rigging up your rods and then try to remember how to tie a nail knot. Rig up off to the side and then launch, please. /-/-/-/-/ The water temps are also getting very high in the afternoons. We are only offering half day floats in the am. I have witnessed dozens of dead fish that may have died from being stressed out when caught in high temp waters. /-/-/-/-/ The small streams are still holding and fishing very well. Cool waters, better hatches are still to be found, just not on the Rio. /-/-/-/-/-/ It has rained a little this week and that will help things a bit. Good luck, Joel Condren
